Friendly Sports Match with SAIS

By Elena Chng G9

Thank you, SAIS, for coming all the way from ShenZhen to play football and basketball with us!

On the 14th of March, ZIS football and basketball players had the opportunity to play friendly sports matches with SAIS. It's not every day we get to invite another school to our campus, so you can imagine how excited everyone was! It was a great experience, getting to meet new students, reuniting with old scholars, and just playing some sports on a sunny Friday!

Now, let's see what some ZIS students thought of this amazing experience!

Friendly Football Matches:

  • What do you think about this experience?

  • What did you enjoy about this experience?

  • Is there anything you learnt from this experience?

  • What do you think you can improve next time?

  • Anything else you want to say about this experience?

Adi (G9)

I think this experience was okay; we did better than in GBA cup. We didn't lose very badly, and we almost won. We also learnt that we aren’t as bad at football than we think we are. I think we can improve our defence and shooting. The opposing team were a lot bigger than us, but we still came close to winning!

Alam (G8)

Last time when we played against SZ, I didn’t get too many chances to go up and play, but I think it's a really good opportunity to meet some other players; I was also pretty surprised to see some other students that was in ZIS long ago. Although we lost to SZ at the end, our morale remains high, and we were well motivated by our coaches. It was a very exciting game, and I will definitely play again whenever there will be another game.

 Friendly Basketball Matches:

  • What do you think about the competition? Why?

  • What did you enjoy about this experience?

  • What do you think you learned from this experience?

  • What do you think you can improve next time?

  • Anything else you want to say about this experience?

Jerry (G9)

I think it is good. I liked the teamwork. I learned teamwork. I think we can improve our teamwork next time. We don't have many people on the team.

Jimin (G9)

I think it was so so because the other team was too good at basketball.  I enjoyed communicating with my teammates and to plan how to score. I learned that I am not good at basketball, and we need more basketball players. I was running in the court; it was like the beep test for me. We need more students on the basketball team and more professional training.

Ethan (G8)

Our teammates learned a lot about communication and work hard together. I enjoyed how we defended in the basketball court and communicated with each other, and though we had conflicts, we are still a team, and we needed to finish that game. Even though we lost, we still learnt about teamwork and being a real risk-taker if there was a challenge.

A special thank you to all the teachers who worked so hard to organize this event! And a special thanks to all the students who participated and to all the students who came to watch and support their fellow classmates and schoolmates.

We hope to have more events like this in the near future!

Go ZIS!
