Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with minor in Marketing Research Analysis from the University of Canterbury.
While teaching ESL in Japan, I discovered my passion for teaching and went on to earn my Bachelor of Education and membership to the Ontario College of Teachers. After six years of teaching in Canada, my wife Jennie, our two young children and I embarked on more international adventures, teaching in and leading international schools across four continents.
I hold a Master’s degree in Education with a focus in Educational Technology and am certified by the Principals’ Training Centre in London.
Kate Nevenglovska
Secondary Principal & MYP Coordinator
I was thrilled to join ZIS in the summer of 2024 after a number of years living and working internationally. My family and I have called Shanghai, Indonesia, and Taiwan home over the last 16 years and I have worked in a number of school leadership positions.
Having been educated and raised in the UK, my first teaching roles were in schools in London and the south west of England. Having travelled a great deal, I then decided to embark on life as an international teacher and school leader working in IB schools across Asia.
I hold a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Bath, UK and am proud to be a lifelong learner engaging in continuous professional and personal development.

Ferris
Primary Principal & PYP Coordinator
I was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, and hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Canterbury. After discovering my passion for education, I earned a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) from the New Zealand Graduate School of Education. I later completed a Master of Educational Studies (Leadership) at The University of Queensland and am now pursuing a second Master’s degree in STEM and robotics at Griffith University, Australia.
My family and I have lived in Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and Guangzhou, with our last two schools being part of the IB community. I am passionate about fostering innovation and curiosity in students and leading a school where inquiry, hands-on learning, and the development of the whole child are prioritised to ensure students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
