Last March, we attended the DP art exhibition featuring 4 artists: Gyuin, Stephanie, Bella, and Lucille. Each artist explored different important topics throughout their work.
Lucille’s paintings about mental health used dark colors contrasted with light colors, showing how there is always hope even in the darkest of times. Gyuin made multiple paintings, showing the process from oppression to freedom. It made us think about how rewarding breaking free from societal standards can be.
Bella's pieces about animal cruelty were sad but powerful. She also brought her dog to emphasize the message. She made the suffering feel real to the audience. Stephanie’s paintings were all so deep, they explored a topic that would be difficult to understand in words. Her moving display was the most unique! They reacted when people blinked or opened their mouths, showing how our bodies can move without us thinking.
The exhibition made us think differently about these serious topics. Even after a few months, we still remember the pieces, this shows how powerful they were. They have put so much hard work and thought into their pieces. We were so lucky to be able to attend the exhibition, and we can’t wait to see the next one!
