Primary School
The Primary School program at ZIS begins with Year 1(ages 5-6) through to Year 6 (ages 11). Whilst Primary grades will share the Earely Childhood building in the first year, the following year the primary students will all be taught in the purpose built primary and secondary school buildings. This will include an ICT center, art and music rooms, gymnasium and pool, and 10 classrooms. The Primary School program builds upon the Early Years Kindergarten to provide continuity.
The Primary School curriculum draws the individual subject disciplines together in a coherent way, so that students learn important concepts, research skills, and world knowledge. The goal of our inquiry approach is for students to learn for genuine understanding not just for tests. Knowledge they attain should be transferable to other tasks and situations. The teachers are highly qualified and experienced using the latest technology and resources to enhance their teaching. Additionally, ZIS promotes a partnership between student, parent and staff through such means as meetings, reports, homework, class trips, assemblies and reading to students.
